David Sachs
David first joined the FOUA Board of Directors in 2018. Following three successful terms and a one year hiatus, he is back to help promote urban agriculture in Arlington. After a career advancing labor rights, David established Grapewood Farm in 2000 (a 500-acre organic grain farm in Virginia’s Northern Neck) with his parents. David works with multiple food production based locations in Arlington and Alexandria every year: he helps manage Ft. Barnard Community Garden, the Victory Garden at Hoffman-Boston Elementary, and the new demonstration garden Project HUG at Virginia Highlands Park. David is an expert in permaculture. With an eye towards developing urban agriculture and biophilic design as a critical industry of any sustainable city David has ambitious plans for Arlington.
