Presentation: “The Central Library gardens and their Role in Building Community” Margaret Brown, Manager, Arlington Central Library (& garden partners)
- Learn about AFAC’s Plot Against Hunger gardens and how to establish your own
- Attend special presentations by local experts on raised bed gardening; water conservation using drip irrigation, rain barrels and ollas; succession planting to raise crop yields in small gardens
- Learn about best practices in growing vegetables in our region
- Special exhibits on mushroom growing, bee-keeping, container & window gardening, Northern Virginia Extension Service, 4-H in the schools, Master Gardeners and others Free vegetable and herb seeds for AFAC gardeners
- BONUS: Take home coffee grounds to enrich your compost AND rich compost from AFAC’s compost bins in Walter Reed Garden Light refreshments will be available

Plot Against Hunger presents the 4th Annual Spring Garden Kick-off featuring speakers, knowledgeable practitioners, free seeds, and demonstrations of garden techniques. The kick-off is a great way to learn about how to start a garden for AFAC, how to donate produce to AFAC, and hear from community garden coordinators and others about lessons learned.
