FOUA Annual Meeting: Gardens Grow Community

We invite you to our 2021 Annual Meeting, Wednesday, December 15 7:00pm – 8:30pm online. Our theme this year is “Gardens Grow Community.” As we all know, gardens grow more than vegetables. They build a sense of community, offer a gathering place, supply nutritious food, and provide a space for respite and healing. We invite you to share your garden story and what it has meant to you and your community this year. Details and story submission form.

Special guest speaker Duron Chavis will talk about how he utilizes urban agriculture to transform low-income and marginalized Richmond communities from the inside out. Through the transformation of vacant lots or the revitalization of municipal buildings, Chavis uses local food as a tool to build equity and community resiliency. He’ll discuss why this is important and challenge us to think about how we can center equity and justice in our work here in Arlington.

We’ll give out the GOLDEN RADISH AWARD, elect board members, and recap the year! County Board Chair Matt de Ferranti and County Board Member Libby Garvey will give remarks.
