Plot Against Hunger

11,530+ pounds donated + 53,500 pounds gleaned in 2024!

Plot Against Hunger program collects fresh produce from gardens at homes, faith-based organizations, schools, and community gardens, and gleans produce at local farms to donate to local food pantries for our neighbors in need of supplemental groceries. Our Produce Bagging Center accepts your garden produce, prepares it for food pantry clients, and delivers the same day. Plot Against Hunger cultivates a community of gardeners, supporting gardeners with seeds and seedlings and technical assistance. Every March, the growing season starts with the Spring Garden Kickoff where gardeners can meet each other and learn new skills.

Get Involved!

Donate your garden produce

Our Produce Donation Center is located at Rock Spring Church, 5010 Little Falls Road in Arlington. We welcome all amounts, starting with those extra vegetables you won’t use. We also have a list of food pantries that directly take produce if you aren’t available during drop off times. Just let us know what you donate here. Produce Donation Center is now open! See more information.

Volunteer

We have a number of volunteer opportunities in existing Plot gardens in Arlington, helping out at the produce bagging center, gleaning at local farms and orchards, serving on the Plot Against Hunger Committee, or otherwise supporting our efforts. We are also always looking for new Plot Against Hunger Gardens!

Seeds and Seedlings

Arlington Virginia Cooperative Extension and Plot Against Hunger distribute donated seeds to Plot gardens, community gardens, and other gardeners in the spring. Plot Against Hunger Program is also coordinating an exchange of seedlings between seedling growers and PLOT gardens that need seedlings.

Learn Gardening Skills

From our Wednesday night Garden Talks at Central Library, the Spring Garden Kickoff, and YouTube channel, we have a number of ways for you to learn gardening! Our partners also offer events which we love to highlight and attend.
