EVERY WEDNESDAY: Starting next week, Wednesday, May 4, and continuing through mid-September, we will be coordinating our school gardens outreach in tandem with FOUA’s Plot Against Hunger Wednesday Garden Talks at Arlington Central Library. The Garden Talks are held from 7:00 – 8:00PM next to the PLOT Garden near the tennis courts. Please come to learn firsthand from experienced gardeners about tips and tricks for gardening success on 20 different gardening topics , and how gardens of all stripes factor into the county’s food security goals.
WEDNESDAY MONTHLY SCHOOL GARDEN COORDINATOR CALLS: In lieu of our monthly zoom meetings, we invite you to gather with us in-person at Arlington Central Library at 6:30PM next to the PLOT Garden, where we’ll be on hand for Garden Q&A for thirty minutes before the scheduled Wednesday Library Talk. For those of you unable to make it in person, we will also make this a Facebook Live event on the FOUA Facebook page. Initial topics include:
May 18: Container & Balcony Gardening with Anne Reed
June 15: Intercropping/Succession Planting with Judy Johnson
July 20: Top 10 Vegetable Diseases with Kirsten Conrad
[Topics for August and September TBD.]
SCHOOL GARDEN VISITS: Our first confirmed school garden visit will occur on Sunday, May 15th at The Jefferson Garden at Thomas Jefferson Middle School (at 4pm). Keep a look-out for a survey Doodle Poll from Anne Braghetta so that we can coordinate more in-person garden visits on other summer dates.
